Details

Colour: Red Vintage: 2009 Producer: Richard OMS Country: France Region: Rhone Alcohol: 13.5 Grape Variety: 50% Syrah, 50% Grenache Tasting Notes: A smooth, rich and stylish red with intense black berry fruit and delicate liquorice notes - all supported by silky, ripe tannins. Vinification Details: The grapes were crushed and fermented seperately. Traditional winemaking. No oak was used at any point. Regional info: The name for this cuvee comes from the renowned black truffles that are famous in the area. In the Ventoux uplands, wild boars prowl the oak and chestnut forests where farmers gather prized black truffles. Locals who, like mushroom gatherers, keep their fields secret, call these rabasses. At least 75% of all the truffles sold in France come from the Vaucluse and more than 50% exchange hands in the Carpentras truffle market. Producer Information: The result of an amalgamation of two 'boutique' co-operatives in the foothills of Mont Ventoux - traditionally one of the fiercest climbs in the Tour de France - Cave Terreventoux is a slick, modern outfit producing excellent value wines. They sound the bell for modern French wine production, bottling under screwcaps and using attractive die-cut labels among other innovations. Ageing Potential: 4/5 years Food Match: Warm Potato salad with truffles.
